How do you make invoices and payments easy for our finance team to manage?
Slate gives authorized billing contacts a place to review invoices, understand what each charge covers, pay an outstanding balance, and keep approved payment methods available for future billing. The workflow separates finance access from general property visibility: invoice and payment screens are available to contacts with the appropriate billing authorization, rather than automatically exposing billing details to every portal user.
Start with the invoice list
From Invoices, finance users can search and filter invoices by status and date. Draft invoices are not shown in the client portal. Open an invoice to review its number, issued and due dates, status, totals, tax, credits, notes, and line items. Where service is billed across locations, lines can be organized by property and job, with subtotals that make a multi-site charge easier to reconcile. The invoice PDF is available from the detail view.
The detail page also has a Payments tab. It shows payment history, including pending, failed, voided, or refunded records where applicable, and provides a receipt PDF for a successful payment. The page calculates the remaining balance from the invoice, recorded payments, and applicable credits. That gives finance a useful record of what was billed, what was paid, and what still needs attention without relying on a separate email thread.
Pay with a controlled, reviewable flow
For an unpaid invoice, choose Pay Now. The payment page shows the invoice total, prior payments, credits, and outstanding balance. Finance can pay the full amount or enter a partial amount up to that balance. Before the payment method is presented, Slate validates the expected balance so a stale page is less likely to create an incorrect charge. A saved card can be selected through the secure payment experience, or a new card can be entered. Payment details are handled by Stripe rather than stored as raw card data in Slate.
After confirmation, the portal reports whether the payment succeeded or is still processing and refreshes the invoice and payment history. A processing payment should not be submitted again while the bank confirms it. A failed or declined attempt is surfaced for correction. The invoice detail can then be revisited for the current balance and receipt.

Manage methods and billing records
The Billing page lets an authorized user maintain the billing address printed on invoices, review saved payment methods, and add a card or eligible US bank account through the secure setup flow. It can also show a default payment method and configured property-level card assignments. A property may use a specific saved card or inherit the client default; bank accounts cannot be assigned to individual properties in that assignment control. Billing contacts can be reviewed separately so the account knows who receives billing emails.
Payment options and automatic billing depend on configuration. Card or bank-on-file methods may support automatic charging; ACH transfer, Ramp, or Bill.com can instead provide offline payment instructions and are not automatically charged by the card flow. Changing a default method requires an existing saved card or verified bank account where the account rules require it. A saved method is not proof that a future charge will succeed: an expired card, bank result, balance change, provider issue, or payment setting can still require attention. Slate should confirm the available methods and remit-to instructions for your account.
